397. VIOLET NOIRE
The Violet Noir tomato is an indeterminate heirloom variety developed in the 1990s by Belgian breeder Pascal Moreau. This mid-season plant produces medium-sized, beefsteak-type fruits, typically weighing between 200 to 400 grams. The tomatoes are round and slightly flattened at the poles, with ribbed shoulders and a deep purple skin that may have green shoulders. The flesh is dense and juicy, offering a well-balanced flavor that is both sweet and tangy, making it ideal for slicing and fresh consumption. The plant is known for its vigorous growth and dense foliage, reaching approximately 1.6 meters in height, and provides a good mid-season yield. Gardeners appreciate the Violet Noir tomato for its unique coloration, excellent taste, and reliable productivity.
