488. MARIZOL GOLD
The Marizol Gold tomato is a German heirloom variety originating from the Black Forest region, introduced to the United States in the late 1800s by the Bratka family. This indeterminate, regular-leaf plant produces large, beefsteak-type fruits weighing between 1 to 2 pounds (approximately 450 to 900 grams). The tomatoes are deep-gold with a red blush and red streaks, both on the blossom end and throughout the flesh. They have slightly flattened, ribbed shoulders and are known for their rich, sweet flavor. The fruits are relatively crack-resistant and are excellent for slicing, adding a vibrant touch to salads and sandwiches. Maturing in about 85 to 90 days from transplanting, Marizol Gold is a vigorous plant that offers abundant yields, making it a favorite among heirloom tomato enthusiasts.
