443. CHEROKEE TIGER RED LARGE
The ‘Cherokee Tiger Large’ tomato is a distinctive dwarf variety developed by breeder Bill Jeffers through a cross between ‘Cherokee Purple’ and the striped dwarf ‘Tigrette’. This compact plant, reaching approximately 2.5 to 3.5 feet (75 to 110 cm) in height, is well-suited for container gardening and small spaces. It features unique chartreuse-colored foliage, adding ornamental value to gardens. The fruits are medium to large, weighing between 120 to 300 grams, with a slightly flattened, beefsteak shape and subtle ribbing near the shoulders. They exhibit bright red skin adorned with golden stripes, and the dense, juicy flesh offers an excellent, slightly acidic flavor. ‘Cherokee Tiger Large’ is a determinate to semi-determinate variety, depending on growing conditions, and produces good, regular harvests from mid-season onwards.
